Rugby Nova Scotia claims Rugby Canada Province of the year
On Thursday night at a glitz and glamour event in Vancouver Rugby Nova Scotia claimed the prestigious honour of Rugby Canada’s - Province of the year.
The province had a record breaking year with major results in both men’s and women’s rugby.
The Women’s U20 team claiming the Canada East championship which included the first ever win over Ontario while the senior men’s team took the Eastern Canadian championship in style beating the regaining champions Newfoundland in their home field.
The season ended with a first ever National silver medal which was obtained by the Keltics women’s U18 side.
Rugby NS has continued its work with grass roots rugby, “rookie rugby” while also leading the way in coach development opportunities.
The real change in recent years in the organization is also seen on an international stage with eleven Keltics (Rugby Nova Scotia provincial program) players wearing the red of Canada.
To accept the award In Vancouver was Jack Hanratty, Rugby Nova Scotia provincial coach and Geno Carew, Rugby Nova Scotia President.
“I am thrilled to accept the award on behalf of Rugby Nova Scotia. We have worked hard over the last six season and I look forward to seeing continued success both on and off the field.”
