As the Eastern Canadian Championships have come to an end, so does the 2019 Keltics season.

Rugby Nova Scotia provincial coach, Jack Hanratty, commented upon the week and the final standings:

“It was great to see the standard of rugby all over the East improve from the competition from last year. All our Keltics programs had high and lows throughout the week but all our programs showed true Keltics pride.”

U16W - Our U16W program showed great improvement throughout the week particularly pleasing was the level of improvement in defense.

U16M - This program traveled out of Atlantic Canada for the first time. Although results didn’t go to plan the team was in every game in what was a very difficult pool.

U18M - Coming off the back of three big losses ended up with a solid win against PEI and a notable victory against Ontario West, who had beaten the Keltics 50-17 only three days previous.

U18W - Going unbeaten in pool play, the playoffs just got away from the squad. Going down in the bronze medal game in the final moment of play.

Hanratty added “We are very proud of our athletes and our fantastic staff. Although the tournament was very beneficial, we always strive for better results. This coming year we look to grow our academies throughout the province for off season training and we will take our U18s on a pre-season European tour”
