Rugby Nova Scotia Announces Date for Annual General Meeting
The 2021 Rugby Nova Scotia AGM will take place virtually on January 29th.

Roles on the Rugby NS Executive Board that are up for re-election this year are:
Director of Finance
The Director of Finance shall keep account for all monies belonging to RUGBY NS and disburse same under the direction of the Board. He/She shall prepare and issue all billings relative to the account ensuring prompt payment is received and accurate records are kept. He/She shall prepare the annual financial statement and cause same to be audited as outlined in Article 23.
This role is currently held by Luke Bedell.
Director of Internal Rugby (Women)
The Director of Rugby (Women) shall have the overall responsibility for the development of women’s rugby and for the administration, selection, and overall performance of the women’s provincial team(s).
The Directors of Rugby shall be responsible for the development of coaching, junior and senior elite player development, 7’s rugby. He/She shall chair the Development Committees and assist its members in the planning and implementation of their programs.
Development Committee, which shall be co-chaired by the Director of Rugby (Men and Women), shall be responsible for the development of coaching, junior and senior elite player development, 7’s rugby. The members of this committee may be but not restricted to:
• Directors of Rugby
• Coaching Coordinator
• President of the Nova Scotia Society of Rugby Union Referees
• Coaches and Managers of the representative sides.
Its members shall develop, coordinate and participate in various programs to further development in these areas.
Youth Committees which shall be chaired by the Directors of Rugby, shall be responsible for the development of all phases of Youth Rugby. The members of this Committee may be but not restricted to:
• Coach and Manager of the Junior representative sides
• High School Co-ordinator
• Provincial Coach
Its members shall develop, co-ordinate and participate in various programs to further development in these areas.
This role is currently held by Ashley Brooker.
Director of Internal Rugby (Men)
The Directors of Internal Competition shall be responsible for the game scheduling, fixtures, statistics, discipline and facilities.
Fixtures Committees which shall be chaired by the relevant Director of Internal Competition shall be charged with formulating the league schedule for all divisions. It shall also keep record of all scores and decisions involved in league games and relate same to the Board as requested.
Disciplinary Committee, which shall be chaired by a Director of Internal Competition. Its powers and mandate are in conjunction with the Canadian Rugby Union appendix to the Laws of the Game of Rugby Football dealing with disciplinary matters. The Chairman may appoint any committee member to chair any meeting in his absence.
This role is currently held by Dougal McInnis.
Director of Marketing
The Director of Marketing shall be responsible for the development of all fund raising, and the securing of sponsorship agreements.
The Director of Marketing shall be responsible for all promotional aspects of the game of rugby football in Nova Scotia.
Marketing Committee which shall be chaired by the Director of Marketing shall coordinate all media coverage of Rugby Football in Nova Scotia. It shall assist clubs in publicizing their tournaments through various forms of media and shall, in conjunction with the Development Committee, assist in promoting the game of Rugby Football via the media.
This role is currently held by John Gillis.
Youth Representatives (Male & Female)
The youth representatives shall work as a sounding board for the executive in terms of youth engagement and involvement in all aspects Rugby Nova Scotia operates within. The Youth representatives shall be appointed responsibilities as the Board of Rugby NS requires. These are non-voting positions.
These roles are currently held by Emma MacDougall & Angus MacKenzie-Whyte.
