The program provides wage subsidies to employers from not-for-profit organizations, the public sector, and private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees, to create quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years. Funded employers are not restricted to hiring students — all youth aged 15 to 30 years may be eligible participants.

HIGH PERFORMANCE MEN’S RUGBY RETURNS TO NOVA SCOTIA
WITH THE INAUGURAL COAST TO COAST CUP
Halifax, NS (May 10, 2022) Rugby Nova Scotia, in partnership with the Toronto Arrows Academy and Rugby
Canada, is pleased to announce the Coast to Coast Cup, a new high performance development men’s rugby
event to be held in Halifax May 28 to June 4, 2022.
The tournament will feature host team the Atlantic Selects along with the Toronto Arrows Academy and Canada
West Selects, with 90 of Canada’s best domestic rugby players, the majority under the age of 25.
The Halifax-based Atlantic Selects, founded in October 2021 to continue the proud tradition of the Atlantic Rock,
faced the Arrows in Toronto last October and, more recently, defeated the New England Independents in
Boston. The Arrows Academy is represented by top athletes in the development stream of Major League Rugby’s
Toronto Arrows. The Canada West Selects will be making their first appearance as a team when they take to the
field for a tune up match against the American Raptors on May 14.
“This event brings three matches of fast, exciting rugby to Halifax, as we raise the profile of the sport and bring
more big events to our city and region, “said Atlantic Selects General Manager and local event lead Dr. John
Gillis.
“More games at this level will make all of our up-and-coming players better and pave a renewed development
pathway to both Major League Rugby and our National Programs,” added Phil Mack, the
Canada West Head Coach.
“This level of high performance play is what helps build rugby at the grassroots community level,” says Halifax based
Rugby Canada board member Phil Otto. “I’m excited for what this event will do to help build the rugby
brand in our region and encourage kids to remain engaged in rugby.”
